Whilst having lunch in a pub/restaurant today I suddenly heard someone gasp; then hubby said look a bird - I turned round and there was this House Martin; it had flown in through the pub's open door and made it's way right up to the other end of the pub where we were sitting.

No one else made an effort to move so it was "Bird lady" to the rescue - me  I went over to the bird which was now trying to get out by aiming for windows - I managed to get hold of it in my hands - it was such a lovely bird - so soft; it then put it's claws around my index finger and sat & waited until I had opened the two doors out into the car park - then it waited a second and flew off into the sky

Because of what happened yesterday to the little one it made me so happy to think this time I managed to save a bird from harm

When we left there were loads of them flying round and round us; they must have nests within the old pub somewhere and this was probably a baby gone astray .....

That is brilliant Omega, well done you :)

It does sound like a baby that lost it's bearings, they are very vulnerable when just out of the nest, you have probably saved it's life as it would have stressed out very quickly :notworthy:

What is it with these baby birds; about an hour ago I walked past our spare bedroom and heard a noise - I looked in and there was this baby sparrow sitting on the inside window cil  Oh no; I thought; here we go again.

Anyway; the baby sparrow flew around the room and landed on the floor disappearing behind the bed! So I had to pull the bed away from the wall to encourage it back towards the now open wide window - thankfully; after crashing into the window panel it then flew out of the open window  Luckily for me it only left a little present on the cil and not on the bedding :hihi:

Last night we had another bird come down our chimney; that's 3 in the last couple of months; I had to open the french doors then move the electric fire to let it fly out and away through the doors - it was a baby starling this time. We have a cowl on top of the chimney so how they get under this and fall down the chimney is beyond us

I suppose it's a good thing that I am not frightened of birds - my brother comes out in a very hot sweat when any feathered creature gets near him :hihi: Hubby is not too good with them either - Men huh!!!

I wonder just how man more we will have indoors during this hot spell

Aaawwwwwww!!! :D that's so sweet.

I seen a pigeon that I thought was going to die lying on the pavement near my house with two or three other pigeons near by. I felt a bit sad to see it lying there injured but when I came back is was up and moving about!! :D It was though the other pigeons near it had spurred it on to get better.

I love birds, I always go to feed the ducks, moorhens and coots at my local park
