That article beggars belief!
What would have happened if the lady/her relatives REFUSED consent for the amputation because they knew that funding options would change?
It's just a messed up world!
I know I'm bound to get shouted at by someone, but if we kept the "free" NHS for UK residents only some of the money problems it faces every day would be solved.
People from outside the UK should be made to pay for treatment & not just turn up expecting to get it all for free.
I for one won't shout at you circle, last time I was in hospital on a gyny ward, the bell kept being buzzed all night and foreigners were loudly demanding their wives were seen NOW, they got very stroppy when the staff explained they must go to the A&E dept if they had an emergency as there was no doctor available to see them on the ward, the abuse the staff got from them was truly shocking not to mention the disturbed nights for all of us unwell ladies on the ward.

In general that is the case.
The real problem, identified by independent researchers, is that there are FAR too many senior managers in our health service. Each one wants a big sporty car (Well, they ARE senior managers, after all and need to show how they are "Jolly Important People") fat expense accounts and how are their useless, bloated jobs funded? By sacking nurses, cleaners, doctors, etc.
They have changed the NHS from being a Health Service into a Wealth Service... for themselves.

Sadly too true, don't forget the art that's been bought in at great expense to enhance some of the hospitals, like the rock for £70,000 by one hospital (I forget the name)

My local hospital managed to stay within it's budget but another one in Hampshire never so our one has to bail out the other one which means my hospital has to make 650 staff redundant in order to be able to do that :badmood: It is the fatcats who are draining the NHS.
