View Full Version : Concerts
This year I have decided to go to more concerts.
As you may be aware I have been to see Take That twice.
Last night I went to see the Black Eyed Peas, they were GREAT. They are all so talented, most can play the drums, guitar keyboard and various trumpets etc. It was such good entertainment and Fergie has an excellent vioce. We had standing tickets so we were right at the front (I am still deaf in one ear)
In July I am taking my Mom to see Paverotti and finally in September I am off to see Robbie at Milton Keynes (I have managed to get Gold Circle tickets so am very excited).
Has/is anyone going to any concerts this year, if so who and do you recommened any?

I haven't been to any for ages, as I usually get my fix of concerts by doing a few music festivals. Last person I went to see was Duran Duran! Eek!
Paverotti sounds good, and I bet Robbie will be fab, He's such an entertainer. You lucky thing!
Sh, I have never been to a music festival  . I would love to but I don't think I could get anyone to have the kids and I def. wouldn't take them with me.
Durran Durran were ace.

We got to festivals that are very family orientated which means the music is not on all night, so everyone gets a good sleep, and it's fully enclosed so the kids can play without us worrying about them getting lost etc.
We don't do the big ones like Glastonbury. I get little enough sleep now, let alone not sleeping for 3 days like they all do.
I stick to the local ones, plus things like the Womad festival we heard was also good for kids and they didn't go on all night, so we might give that a go.
Having kiddies to consider does limit the old options eh?
hi tact
oh gosh the last concert i went to was a status quo one about four years ago at wembley says something about my age
but my daughters went to milton keynes sunday to see bon jovi they are still a bit deaf but cant talk about anything else  im so jealous that you are going to see robbie alas no one would go with me im a lone fan in these parts and i dont want to go on my own so its out the window hope you have a great time :D
er, you are more than welcome to come with us! . Also if you know of a strong man (a very very strong one) whos shoulders I can sit on for 2 hours bring him with you
aw thanks tact  as for the strong man pah!! i cant think of one who would go to a robbie concert all far too egotistic :hihi:
Will Young can sing!!! I would love to go see him.
Pink is playing in B'ham at the end of the year but I don't know anyone who would want to go with me. I love most types of music and I love concerts.

:( Oh I would kill to go see them Mumski
Hi mumski, I have bought quite a few tickets on ebay. They have never been fake. I would advise you to use a seller that has a lot of good feedback though.
Also try the stratford ticket shop http://www.stratfordticketshop.com/music/index.html they are still selling the ones for Warwick Castle.

That's a shame Tact. We went to see him at Leeds Castle 2 years ago and he was fab. Hopefully you will get another date you can attend.
*Just saw an article in Hello magazine that says Pavorotti has Pancreatic Cancer. They have removed the mass, but he is quite ill. That's why he has cancelled his tour. He hopes to continue his tour later in the year.*
We went to see the Eagles at Twickenham a couple of weeks ago. They still rock. :D
We saw them at Wembley Stadium in 1996 and they are just as good now as they were 10 years ago.

Enterian you're coming a long way!! I live fairly near Blickling.Have you been to a concert there before??
[/b]
No I'm not - "East of Watford" covers an enormous area! Been to Blickling before, but not to a concert. Went to Thetford last year to see The Beautiful South, got me back into 'concerts' for the first time since my teens!

Glad you enjoyed it...
It's two years this months since I was touring a European country following my fave group!
Won't say who as it would reveal who I was....
I saw 13 concerts over 5 weeks!
Last concert - Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Earls Court last week.
Absolutely awesome.
:notworthy:
Next one - Bauhaus, August.
Seen the Manics twice in the early nineties, once with Richie and once just after he went missing. In the second one, James came on and did a solo Raindrops Keep Falling On my Head, just for Richie. Really quite moving.

Bauhaus are still touring? Blimey now i feel quite old, Pete Murphy threw up on my girlfreind post show once! Oddly enough she stopped going to gigs after that :hihi:
Ian :nfh1:
Saw the Manics at Exeter and Southampton.
Yup, Bauhaus are still about. Saw them in Feb this year. Pete Murphy now has a bald patch and looks like an old man from the back!!! Still a fantastic showman though. 20 minutes of Bela Lugosi's Dead for an encore (hence my name BelaLu). And Daniel Ash. Well, what can I say, been in love with him now for 28 years!!! Time I got a life.
My NFH likes disco/club rubbish, another resaon I hate him so!

We had a couple of rumbles of thunder when we were watching Simply Red on Friday night at Blickling, but no rain.
Brilliant concert, but took us two hours to get off the carpark afterwards!

Best gig I've ever been to has to be Embrace in Liverpool.....
Now I know the meaning of an electric atmosphere..... I've never felt happiness and joy in the atmosphere like I did that night..... fab.
I've not been to a proper gig for ages. Best was a couple of years ago, Lynard Skynard and Deep Purple on the same bill. Fabulous :notworthy:
The last "gig" if you can call it that that I went to took place in Wembley Stadium many years ago - I saw someone who is drawing his pension - guess who  I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, we had seats but towards the end we went down onto the pitch - I'm a little bit older now :hihi: so would need a seat to sit on :hihi:
We go to the theatre a bit; tomorrow we are off to see Spirit of the Dance  - Similar I believe to Riverdance.
Would love to see Will Young I love watching him perform (singing & acting) his voice is fantastic; have all his albums and recently bought the film Mrs Henderson Presents which he appears in - anyone seen that? He is actually  naked  for a second in it

It's been a good year for concerts for me this year - my favourite singer toured in April and May so I kinda went to every UK and Ireland date...and the final dress rehearsal into the bargain...so that was I think 13 shows. Saw Madonna at Wembley Arena in August. Fantastic show!
Next week I see Scissor Sisters and also The Killers and then the week after it's George Michael.
But unless anything else comes up, after GM I have to wait until June 07 to see INXS
machine head was the last i whent to gig back 2003. my ears wear ringing for 2 days.

This thread is making me feel soooo old...but I like it:D
I went to see Roy Harper a few weeks ago, he's still as good as ever but prior to that it was John Martyn. One of the best bands I've ever seen was Hawkwind complete with their 'Liquid Len' light show.
Now that is definitely music to smash your head against the wall to.
Im going to see joe satriani in may.
I'm going to see Jean Michel Jarre in 2 weeks
I was going to him see but i coud not aford the tickets.
Luckily i didn't have to buy the tickets, they were a birthday present from my mum
I have to say, he was fantastic. His light show was the tamest i've seen, but it was indoors;) He resembles a Mad Scientist when he is on stage though.

I went to see Chris Rea last night. Haven't seen him since he was support act for Elkie Brooks back in late 1970s
He was excellent, but I was disappointed with a couple of things. The start was a bit too much like listening to "the Shadows" lots of twangy guitar and no singing, and it wasn't until 15 minutes before the end of the show that Chris Rea finally tried to engage with the audience which didn't quite come off. Still I enjoyed it and it was my first time going to a concert by myself so I felt quite brave last night :D
le
Im seeing joe Satriani this month and so looking forword to it.
i just not long got back from seeing joe satriani wow is all i can say.
