I didn't have any trouble getting good jobs at good rates until I hit 50. Then all I was good for was data input and filing type things. I have a degree for God's sake (IT and management) and I'm a qualified accountant :badmood: .

I've been running my own business for a few years and doing a bit of temping on the side. Company's won't employ me as a contractor 'cos I'm not a ltd company.

WELL. On Wednesday evening I received an email from an employment agency I'd applied for a job through about 3 years back, desperate for someone with knowledge of a specific software package. I left it 'til next morning and rang them back. Their head office is not too far from me but is being refurbished, so I ended up driving to Lunnon to sign some forms. (too close to end of month and couldn't really afford it). IGOT IT, IGOT IT! :D :D :D Super job on contract rates for at least 4 months. It's a project between one of the ginormous IT companies and another. Run of 3 years if it takes off.

Please let it run!

I need some luck. My son and I were so short of money yesterday that the only reason we had supper was because I'd won a tenner the lottery  .

Janieb, that's fantastic!

Well done!

But, being Miss Prudence here, don't spend your fees before you get them....

Thanks MU. Got a few bills to pay. But had minor celebration and bought a bottle of wine. Haven't touched it yet,

Ah, if anyones looking at the time of this post, I'm working. The new job started this morning but I still have the stuff from my other clients to do.

It didn't last long. The 2 girls who were supposed to show me the ropes were very young and I was out on me ear a week later. I didn't do anything wrong - just a curt phone call not to return. I left some of my own stuff in the desk which I have now lost. That'll teach me.

Got a new job less than a week later, (temp to perm). I love it. Was asked to put my CV in. Went for interview, thought I'd cracked it. No. They think I won't be satisfied with the pay and have given the job to someone else. ( How about asking?) Regular money is regular money, especially when you have gone 9 years without a proper job.
