I've been married for 14 years and in that time I have gained some weight. Recently I have noticed that I can no longer remove my wedding ring and that it may cause future problems. My question is - Where do I go to get it cut off? Mr DG says he will buy me a nice new one and our vicar will bless it for us. But who do I get to remove it????

 Oh DG when I read the title of your topic it gave me a completely different impression of the content!!!!!!!!!!! :D ;)

Anyways, have you been into a jewellers and asked, they must see people all the time with that problem, they'll know if you have to go to the hospital or whatever.

Typed "removing a stuck ring" in google (without the quotes) and there are a few pages that give you tips on how to do it
domestically, I am not sure there are people who does it professionally.

Hope it helps

Your doctor should be able to refer you, hospitals cut off rings all the time.
You could still keep the same ring and get it enlarged or redesigned?

I had my engagement ring cut off at the fire station when I was pregnant with LT.

I rung them and made an appointment with them, they were very nice and I got to see some rather lovely fire fighters and their pole!! :hihi:

Pity I was 8 months gone at the time! :D

Hi DG,

Any reputable jeweller should be able to enlarge your ring to make it a little bigger (they either stretch it or add a piece in) and they will keep it the same (and give it a good polish as well). It doesn't cost too much either.

Hope it comes off OK. I used to get that in the summer through my pregnancy (first time round), and used a good old ice pack for ten minutes (no longer though!), and then the old fairy liquid. Used to do the trick!
