This has probably been covered many times before on the forum, so apologies!

Mr T and I are wanting to start up our own business in Investigations.Mr T knows all about that side of it and Data Protection etc as he worked in the industry for years.

What we don't know is how to go about getting accountants involved, banks and the general running a business thing! People have already confused us with sole trader and limited companies  I just can't seem to get my head round it.

I have looked at the Business Link Website and found it a great help, but would appreciate any advice from all you lovely people who have taken the plunge.

:D

Hi T, When we started Mr T was already registered as a Sole Trader with the Inland Revenue. He holds a CIS4 card. But we might have to change to being VAT registered soon.

We just phoned a few accountants out of the Yellow Pages and asked for costs etc before we chose who to go with.

Banks yet again it is worth phoning them and finding out their business charges, some of them give you the first year free to help you get on your feet.

In our area Business Link run courses that you can attend it might be worth while seeing if they do them in your area.

Sorry if its not much help, we have been up and running for just over a year now and I must admit I still find it confusing sometimes.

Good Luck.
