View Full Version : Job Interview

tortoise

After being out of work for 2 years I have a job interview tomorrow at 3pm.

Where I have been depressed I really didn't want to go back into teaching or nursing, so I applied for a twlight shift in our local Morrisons. The hours are from 8:15pm to 2:30am so at least I won't hear the kids playing all summer!

The hours aren't ideal, but it will do for now as we have eaten into our savings big time. At least I won't have to worry about child care either as Mr T will be at home with Little T.

So by tomorrow I may be employed again!

Wish me luck!

Hope it all goes well for you tomorrow  You'll be fine, I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed for you.
Could be a good thing for you now especially after your depression, it will give you something to focus on. Been through similar to you and am in the throws of job applications and interviews myself

Go for it kiddo :D

How did the interview go T?

tortoise
05-04-06, 09:03 PM
Well I went for the interview and I think it went ok. She said I had given a good interview and that my application was outstanding!

I had to wait in the staff canteen for the interviewer and I was reading a notice on the wall about being polite to customers. One of the employees came up to me and said "I wouldn't take any notice of what that says, no-one else does!"

So I am just waiting to see what will happen now.

Thanks everyone for your good luck messages.

Sounds VERY positive!

I was thinking of you when I was reading a retail trade magazine today. There is a profile of one of the Supply Chain Directors for a major food retailer in the UK and he started out in the trade in very humble beginnigs in a local food store before moving on to a national supermarket at the beginning of his career. Interesting reading.

You know the old saying 'from small acorns grow....' ;)

Good luck, hope you hear good news very soon.

Well I haven't had a phone call or letter as yet.

So I am not holding out much hope. :(

Oh well onwards and upwards and will start to apply for more jobs when the paper comes out. I am also going to make an appointment at the Job Centre when LT goes back to school to discuss my options.Maybe then I can get advice on some better paid jobs.

Thanks for all your good wishes. :)

Need your brilliant advice.

I am posting so late as I cannot sleep. My throat is showing no signs of getting better and I haven't eaten for 2 days. Drinking is also a big problem. My tonsils look like two big white lumps and the whole of the left side of my face is in agony. I am on Penicillin V and think I will have to go back to the GP as I can't sleep at all. To top it all to**pot next door is awake with his TV on loud.

My dilema is this. I am meant to be going to my induction day on Saturday for my new job. It is a 9 hour day and I know unless a miracle happens or I chop my head off I am not going to be well enough. What do I say to them? If you were employing me and I rang in sick, what would your reaction be? I was thinking of maybe asking my GP to write a note for me. I know I only have tonsillitis, but believe me my throat is not a pretty sight! 8-X :ill:

Please help a desperate T! xxx

Thanks I am going back to the GP this morning. Finally got to sleep with the aid of hot water bottle and strong pain killers at 5:30am.

I think I will have to ring them and say I can't make it.

Knew everything was going too well for me.

Well I have just rung Morrisons and she seemed very nice.

She said I shouldn't really start without my induction, but she would see what she could do for me. She said that she will try and sort something out today and will call me tomorrow as she will have another induction day coming up soon.

I asked her if she wanted a GP letter from me, but she said no it was fine.

Hopefully fingers crossed it will be ok.

Yep they have been. I haven't had to do anything!

GP has given me more antibiotics and told me the infection has spread to my ears and down into my windpipe

Have been given a letter by the GP just in case Morrisons do get funny.

Now I have spoken to Morrisons I do feel a weight has been lifted so hopefully will start to feel better soon.

Thanks D xx

That's great that a weight has been lifted T :) You've got to get yourself better and have no worries, and the Morrisons people sound very helpful indeed  Sound like a good employer IMO

Take care of yourself, enjoy the GP on Sunday - our home turf, but don't do your throat in shouting "FERRARI" too much :P

Oh dear T... well at least you are keeping Morrisons informed, they can't ask any more than that.

I got an infection in my ear not so long ago, that had spread from a general cold/sore throat bug thing, it was horrible and I ended up having have my ear syringed which is not something I ever want to do again! The infection affected my balance and made me feel very sick. The syringing made it even worse.

Make sure you stick with the antibiotics hun x x x

Well started last night and I am bl**dy knackered. :lazier:

I have pains in places I didn't even know exsisted! I spent 6 hours filling shelves with shampoo, soap, tablets and toilet rolls. Mind you the soap smelt lovely and I got to see all the offers that were on. :D

The other people seem ok, although they spend their breaks texting. I can never be bothered to text so I just got a coffee instead. :D

Am probably going to get some more sleep this afternoon and have a nice soak :lush: ready for tonight. I am working tonight, Weds and Sat.

A very tired little Tortoise :coffee:

Yep the offers are buy one get one free on Lotus loo rolls, velvet loo rolls, supersoft shampoos, radox bubble baths, radox handsoap, some vitamins are buy 2 for 90p!

More insider information later!! :D

I wanted to loose weight so this job should help.

I did enjoy it in a sense that I was kept busy, but still felt a bit strange being away from home in the evenings. I have got a bit clingy again. I am on a anti depressant every two nights, but think I will have to stay on the one every other night again for a while. At least I could ring Mr T in my break.

Onwards and upwards. :D

Perhaps you should buy some of the Radox that's on offer and put it in your bath to ease the aches and pains :)

Keep it up - it'll take you a couple of weeks to get used to the routine and all that extra exercise but you'll then not ache any more!

I officially have no life!

I can tell you how many different sorts of tea that Morrisons sell and the fact they sell jars of Lemon Cheese

Ambrosia custard is buy one get one free at the moment as are Fruit Flakes!!

See I told you - no life!! :hihi:

I have achey elbows this morning and Mr T is working from home today so no sleep then! Well I say working at the moment he is outside with two of the neighbours drinking coffee and talking about HD TV!

What is lemon cheese?
