I need to put my head in the oven I think!

Little T has a temperature of 39 and is now on Penicillin.

Mr T is having all 4 wisdom teeth out tomorrow under sedation.

The cat has been sick.

Has anyone got any ideas on coping with a grown man after having 4 wisdom teeth removed? I have stocked up on pain relief, straws, porridge, soup and water! I think I can just about cope with Little T, but tomorrow I may up my Prozac again!!

Mr T will act like all men do when they are porrly - like dying swans - so get prepared for the most amount of attention seeking behaviour

I also suggest a wet flannel - not for Mr T's forehead - yours!

What a time T, you can cope - just take a deep breath and realise it'll be Saturday before you know.

Yi Win gave good advice about handling Mr. T.

Hang in there gal, keep smiling

LOL @ DB..

T, I would be tempted to put Mr T to bed with a drink and the telly control and make a run for it.. :hihi: :hihi:

Hope Little Master T feels better soon. Can you give him Calpol as well as the penicillin?

tortoise
15-03-06, 01:11 PM
Thanks everyone.

Yep Little T is ok with penicillin and I am giving him paracetamol capsules to bring down his temp. He is asleep all curled up in his bed with the cat! He is 12 in July, but still my baby! Little T not the cat! Although the cat is lovely too and is 9 this year.

The cat was sick I think because he is male and wanted some attention as he seems fine now!

Thanks for the teeth advice Banana - he had an abcess a while back and found hot worked better then cold. I do feel for them all, but it has all happened at once. :banghead:

Won't put my head in the oven, will put some wine into me instead!! :hihi: :wine:

When one of our friends was pregnant, Mr T told her that it would sting a bit giving birth!!! :P

Oh dear T, you will have to play nurse :(

Not having had any teeth out I can't offer advice at all apart from Eeyores mam had a tooth out last week and she said it wasn't half as bad as it used to be years ago - she was eating fine on the evening which she hadn't expected to be able to do

Good thoughts and wishes to you all

T, tell Mr T good luck for tomorrow.

Don't worry it won't hurt whilst its happening or after, it will just sting a little.. :hihi:

Tortoise,

Hope little T is better today and that Mr T's tooth pulling goes well and he's not in too much pain when the numb stuff wears off.

Do you get to keep them so he can put them under pillow for the tooth fairy? :D

cheer him up with such happy thoughts as my dad used to take teeth out with the doorknob and string method (how we all laughed!)  , so at least medicine has moved on a bit! :o :hihi: :hihi:

Well what a night!!

Little T proceeded to join the cat in vomitting every hour! Had to call the GP as his temp went up to 39.6!!

We had to stop the Penicillin straight away. Luckily today he feels a little bit better and has managed some soup.

Mr T is being very brave bless him.I hated leaving him in the sedation room and was so pleased when I saw him sitting up and talking afterwards. He has asked me the same question 6 times since 2pm and is now fast asleep on the sofa. He was in agony and has been a big brave soldier.

I am going to have a little nap as spent all last night clearing up after LT. :lazier:

Thanks for all your kind thoughts.

Dearest Tortoise, you deserve a medal for all your nursing skills!! Little T and his dad are very lucky to have you taking care of them! I find making homemade chicken soup cures a lot of ailments (even Mr DG's "man flu" !!!) Lots of fluids, paracetemol and TLC are the order of the day.

Don't forget to take good care of yourself - it'll all fall apart if you get sick too!

Enjoy your nap T. You deserve it. I hope that Little Master T feels better soon, and I would have some painkillers on standby for when Mr T wakes up.

T - do you fancy coming round to mine to nurse me?! I have still got my cough and cold and - joy of joys - today I have woken up with a funny left ear and feel like I'm swimming!! Every time I cough it's like the world does a 360 on me.

And I can't get a doctors appointment so I will have to put up with it for the weekend :(

If you are not available I will have to order some of DG's magic chicken soup...!!

Cheers Yi Win I might try that. I am fed up with this now I have been ill for the last month nearly but the emphasis seems to change all the time, first it's the throat, then the head, then the chest, now the ear!

sorry to hi-jack your thread Tortoise

Thats ok P :D I am on my way!!! http://bestsmileys.com/superhero/2.gif :doctor: :wine: :flowers:

Well the boys seem better now. Mr T had an incident with some bleeding. He woke up in pain so had some painkillers and a hot water bottle. We went to bed at 1:30am and watched a DVD as he was wide awake after sleeping most the night on the sofa! Bless him he has been very good and I got to have a lovely sleep this afternoon cuddled up on the sofa.

Little T is much better now. His temp is down now. His throat is still sore and he has trouble eating, but he seems happier.

So the Tortoise house is nearly back to normal. Thanks for all your kind thoughts. :flowers:

Oh dear spoke to soon!!!

Mr T is very poorly. He started to feel rough last night and the left side of his face swelled up.We were up most of the night as he was in so much pain.

This morning we rang NHS Direct and they advised us to go to the emergency dentist. Our local health trust merged with another one last year so instead of going to the local emergency dentist 10 minutes away we had to drive to one which was 40 minutes away! :badmood:

When we got there they couldn't believe how brave he had been. :cry_more: He has 2 "dry sockets" with infection below them! He is now on 2 lots of antibiotics and if he still feels bad on Monday we have to go to A&E! :( A dry socket happens when the blood clot falls away within 24 hours. It can be caused by simply sneezing!!

On the good side,Little T is much better and the cat seems to be fine.

I am knackered! :lazier:

I hope he starts feeling better soon. I had a dry socket once when I had a wisdom tooth out. I know how painful that can be!!!!

18-03-06, 08:17 PM
Oh thanks. He likes getting hugs from lots of women!! :D

He is still very poorly. He looks like a little boy curled up in bed. It is horrible as I am not used to seeing him in agony. :(

Have gone into full time nurse mode.

Can you install him on the settee with pillows and a comfort blanket and find a favourite video to take his mind off things?

tortoise
18-03-06, 11:02 PM
Yeah he has come downstairs now and we are going to watch Parky as Stephen Fry (our favourite person) is on.

At least I don't have to keep going upstairs now with pain killers and hot water bottles!

He has a pillow and Little T's special duvet for when he is poorly! :D

Hi T,

You sound like you really have ur work cut out for you. I hope the T boys are improving but i bet you make a fantastic nurse.

Back when i was nursing and mr Muk used to get ill (normally with man flu) i had no sympathy for him as i would normally use it all up at work!!!!!!! :D  but now that i have changed profession i can give him some sympathy if he needs it.

Keep up the good work T love Muk xxxxx

Hi all

Well Little T has eaten breakfast today and asked to go on his PC so I think he over the worst!

Poor Mr T is still very poorly. His face is still swollen and he is still in alot of pain. I had a look in his mouth and he has a huge lump on his cheek topped off by an ulcer. Ouch!!!
We were up most of the night again. I have told him if he gets no better by 5pm I am ringing our GP. He feels sick too, but I think that is the cocktail of drugs and the yuk from his mouth.

I am writing down all his painkillers now so he can't take more then he should. He is back in bed now so I am taking the time to tidy up and chat to all of you.

Well he is still in pain this morning!

He refused to go to the GP yesterday and didn't want a home visit. This morning he is a little better, but the swelling is still there.

He is talking about going back to work tomorrow!

Little T went back to school today. He seems alot brighter.

You wait when we go away next week I bet I get ill now! Probably through sheer  I was making porridge at 2am so Mr T could take some more pain killers.

20-03-06, 10:37 AM
T, I am glad Little master T is feeling better.

I don't think Mr T should not go to work tomorrow if he is still having to take painkillers in the middle of the night he will feel awful if he goes to work.

T, you also need to look after yourself. Can you go and have a sleep now whilst Little T is at school. The housework will wait until tomorrow.

Well I finally got him to go the dentist today! What a farce. The clinic who removed his teeth would not see him and our dentist wasn't keen either as she said he should go back to the clinic!

It is a long story over all his treatment and I have completed a 3 page letter of complaint to the clinic and copied it to the General Dental Council and The Dept of Health!!

Well our dentist saw him and irrigated his wound and packed it with iodine fibres. He still has the flap of gum moving and it is exposing the root of the next door tooth.

But guess what he has now gone to work! He rang his boss and his boss didn't seem too happy so he has gone in! :banghead:

I have shouted at him and told him I am very annoyed with him and that he should listen to me! :P

I am going to have a long soak :lush: and a nice sleep while I am on my own. :lazier:
