Mr T went to his friends house for dinner last week. His friend cooked rabbit. Mr T now wants me to cook it. Any tips and ideas on what to do with it?

There are a lot of people who think we should eat more rabbit - I can see their point, its healthy meat and there are lots of them to go around.

Anyone had venison, I utterly love it! :eatin:

Tact will need 2 bottles of wine not one. One for her and one for the stew :D [/b]

DB, you know me so well... LOL

Annabel, I have had venison a couple of times when I was little. My Mom is a great cook but she has given up hope with me.

Oh gosh I wouldnt eat horse meat, when I was student I lived in Germany for abit - there were 'pferdemetzgerei' (butchers just selling horse meat) all over the place, I though it was so savage! and the meat is so intensely red, ooh no, not for me :(

I wouldnt eat rabbit either, the carcasses look so skinny and elongated, it puts me off

I would definitely try ostrich, if it was on the menu at a good restaurant

Youd never believe I was once a militant vegetarian!

There's a rabbit away somewhere :P

Personally I've had rabbit once and I liked it, when I was younger and had a bar job I came straight from college to do 6 hours work behind the bar, and one of the regulars felt sorry for me, having no tea, so used to make me a meal and bring it into the pub :D One day he did rabbit casserole and it was delicious, I had 4 pet rabbits at home and still enjoyed the casserole knowing what it was :)

Shark is nice and swordfish :) .

Haven't tried venison... Rabbit was served to me in France once - I didn't know what it was...didn't like it anyway, and decided never again to eat it!

Horse...no, I couldn't, I have seen butchers shops abroad that sell it and it really does look a horrid colour.

Actually, I think I could easily be a 'fishy-tarian'...I barely eat meat at all these days  . I am really into herring (IKEA sells it in jars) for some reason at the moment too!

I can't move over here in Sweden for pickled Herring. The problem is, I'm a very picky eater and will not eat most meats and hate fish (except Cod which has to be battered sans skin). I'm trying to get over my aversion to fish as I know it's very good to you, and well living in Sweden it's a very common food to have.

I'll eat any vegetable/fruit going, just have an aversion to most meats. I couldn't eat Rabbit, though I can understand why others do. Horsemeat is popular here too... yuck.

In china we had pigeon - which doesn't sound too adventurous I know but when I tell you it came served up with the head, eyes, and claws intact... you had to snap the head off at the neck etc...

it tasted lovely though!!! :)

A sweetmeat is a confection made entirely of sugar. Did you mean "sweetbread"? If so this is a meat derived from the thymus gland or the pancreas of an animal. It is absolutely NOT the testicles. This is a story put about by people to put you off. Sweetbreads are quite difficult to come by nowadays as supermarkets don't as a rule sell them and there are fewer and fewer proper butchers around. HTH.
