I have just watched the Panorma programme this evening. PCTs are illegally forcing families to sell houses to pay for care of the elderly, even if, in some cases, this means another member of the family being rendered homeless due to such a forced sale.

I make no apologies for banging my own drum very loudly on this one - anyone who thinks they might need to sell their home to pay for care home fees or who has a relative who might be in this position :

Please speak to a reputable Independent Financial Adviser first - there are alternative ways of funding long term care/care home fees that do not necessarily mean you have to sell your home.

One of my relatives had to sell her home and move into a redistential care home, due to a disease that causes dementia. She cannot physically look after herself due to the deisease, NOW I find out that in all likelyhood, her care should be provided FREE!

I am spitting feathers I can tell you.
