 Scotlands news was about the powers the police have in the temporary closures of the homes of Antisocial Neighbours.

There were 3 families on the programme. Its supposed to give quick relief for neighbours suffering from ASB.The police or council can apply to the procurator fiscal in the morning and the NFH can be evicted by lunchtime   .Its a temp eviction for up to 6 months and while the police are evicting the tenants a contractor is boarding up the place.

Of course when interviewed none of the NFH believed they had done anything wrong, hadnt dealt drugs etc
and the lawyers defending them thought the act was unfair,WELL BOOHOO, would the lawyers representing them like to live next door to them

One of the families were evicted due to excessive parties, drinking, loud music, dancing and there were over 160 complaints  .The guy of course said they had 1 party  but to look at them both mother and son looked as though they drank from morning till night 7 days a week you couldnt possibly take them seriously as with any of those featured.

  I for one enjoyed the programme immensely and just imagined it was MY nfh :D

I doubt anyone in England would have seen it since it was Reporting Scotland.Trust me it was great viewing,I was wondering is it the same in England

I blummin missed it!! :badmood: I would have loved to have seen it as it's quite relevant to my situation.
Did they say what the criteria was Knightley? I can't understand how this works, considering how long it takes to get an eviction going down the ASBO path.

Call to use nuisance neighbour powers

Sorry you missed it Peaceseeker.I have no idea how to make a link clickable but I had a look on the website, once your there go to the media player choose your connection and after that youll see the news article that was on the news, regarding the one from Dumfries.

As far as I know its been an option that could be used for the past year or so and you dont need actual proof, only that the police are satisfied that there is a problem. It made me wonder why it hasnt been mentioned to me either Peaceseeker, its supposed to be a quick relief for good neighbours.

Check your councils website whether your a homeowner or not it does state on mine somewhere that they have powers to close premises which cause anti social behaviour.Theres also something on the Scottish Executive website regarding powers against Antisocial behaviour, ill have a look for the relevant bit :D
http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/player/?item=4449254 I found the whole program on the same site, hope the link works
