I hope I can explain to many of you what a Reiki healing session entails and a little about what reiki is (hope it's ok)

Reiki is an ancient Japanese form of healing that treats the person as a whole as well as individual conditions. Much research has been undertaken in the past few years and results have been proven time and time again, especially in the field of Parkinsons and MS that having a reiki treatment actually really does do some good for these conditions as well as a myriad of others.

The main question I and other practitioners get asked is "Is religion or a belief in religion needed?" well simply put the answer to this is NO Reki does not have any religious affiliations whatsoever. All a practitioner asks is that if you are having a treatment you come to the session with an open mind and no preset ideals as to what will happen.
Secondly we are asked "do i have to undress?" again the answer to this is NO
A reiki session is completed with the "client" fully clothed although you will be asked to remove coats and shoes. So if you go for a Reiki treatment and are touched in an uncomfortable location or asked to undress then it is NOT Reiki.
Very often relaxing music will be playing in the background and the room will be at a comfortable temperature but your Reiki practitioner will also provide a blanket just in case you do feel a little cool.
A reiki healing session will last anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and a half depending on the amount of healing your practitioner is guided to give you, and you will usually find the first time you go it will last a little longer than average, the average is about an hour.

During your reiki session you will usually fall asleep and your practitioner will ask you to lay on the treatment couch with your eyes closed as this does help to relax you further. Please also don't be offended if you try to talk to the practitioner during a healing session and you get no response, they aren't being rude, it's more often than not they are so deep into treating you their client that they often don't hear you when you try and chat to them

When choosing a reiki healer to see try if you can to go on personal recommendation, if this is not possible then make sure your practitioner is a member of one of the main Reiki Associations, you can usually find their details either in the Yellow pages or phone book or online by searching google for reiki and associations. (there is also one listed in my signature)

I hope this info has been useful but if anyone does have any questions then please do ask away.
I'll try and answer them all :)
