THE first ever anti social behaviour injuction order taken out by Ceredigion County Council has been placed on a Cardigan council house tenant.
The order on Carol Doreen Jones, 29, follows numerous complaints from neighbours in Ridgeway over the past two years including drugs dealing, verbal abuse, threats, fighting in the street and the playing of loud music.
The order, which lasts for 18 months, prohibits Ms Jones from similar behaviour. If she breaches any of the conditions she could be jailed for contempt of court.
In January this year police swooped on the property and found large amounts of drugs, including heroin and cannabis.
One person, Jason Nicholas is currently serving a 30 month prison sentence for drugs offences. Ms Jones admitted possessing cannabis and received a community sentence.
The ASBI order was placed by District Judge Llewellyn at Swansea County Court last week. The judge also issued an order to demote the defendant's tenancy for the next 12 months.
If she breaches that order she faces being evicted. A spokesperson for Ceredigion County Council said: "This action should serve as notice to others who engage in similar conduct."
The council paid tribute to those neighbours who had been brave enough to stand up to the defendant's behaviour.
"No one should have to suffer from this sort of behaviour," said the spokesperson.
"Anyone subjected to or witnessing anti social behaviour should report it to the council or the police."
