I opened my curtains to a winter wonderland! Poor old Fatty Arbukle's (our dog) water bowl has frozen over, so I've bought it indoors so he can have a drink. I've put lots of food on the bird table to help our feathered friends. My teeth chattered as I bought in our wheelie bin - anyone else feeling the cold?

It's time to dig out my super sexy polar bear flannel pyjamas!!!

HELLO from the back of beyond!

Give it another half an hour or so, I reckon I'll be snowed in. Had to turn back from going into town already this morning, was in Mr Smoo's 4x4 as well - not a darn bit good in this!! To make it even more dangerous, it's given the sheep that wander the roads round here some real good camouflage - wouldn't it be a shame if they had to end up as Sunday's dinner :D
I can hardly see out the window, and I only went out and cleared it 10 mins ago.
Oh, the joys of Scottish weather...

A very chilly Smoo :(

Well, that's me officially snowed in - Mr Smoo has just come home from work(in case he can't get home later - always the wise one!) and says he met the tractor with the snowplough at the top of the hill having a few problems too! Cars abandoned on the road, the kids have been sent hoome from school etc etc. Looks like we're in for a long one :(

It will be the 3-day power cuts next, :( Just hope I've got enough petrol in the can for the generator for the freezer - it's chock-full!!

Cheers Ally - fortunately we are quite prepared for long hard winters round here - so I also have a battery-powered laptop as well as the generator, snow-shoes and more waterproof fleecey items than they take on Arctic expeditions! Our phone line is dug in underground, so long as the exchange is still OK I'll be connected (and if it isn't the engineer lives in the village!). We're a hardy bunch, y'know... :D

I'm just sitting here watching the dog who is outside paying snow-ploughs with her nose, that's what she does when it gets up past her legs (she's a border collie) - it's hysterical :hihi: Besides, I'm a bit wary of opening the door to let her back in as there's about 3 feet of a drift liable to fall in the door, and i can't be bothered with that kind of mess just yet! :D

Is anyone else having snow fun here?

Acclimatising slowly....Smoo X

:o Brrrrrrrrrrrrr....it's very chilly her too in the south, though no sign of snow. Just loaded the car up with sacks of coal and logs for the weekend.... :)

Poor smoo......I'll keep my fingers crossed you don't have any power cuts  Keep warm my dear and have a few wee hot toddies

Thanks LP - actually, I'm not too worried about the power - have enough petrol for generator (phew!) although it's only big enough to run the freezer, but thankfully we had an emergency 12-volt lighting circuit installed when we renovated - I think Mr Smoo was a boy scout!! (well, he certainly had an old caravan that got butchered).

And as IF I needed an excuse for a few wee drams, I've just spent the past hour digging and pushing other people's Land Rovers!
Methinks I need some of that mulled wine..... :D

Oh,smoo, do you know, I am actually rather jealous!! :o

I'd love to be snowed in - so long as I was prepared with plenty of provisions.

We can go for years here without seeing a single snowflake, and when we get a teeny bit, everything grinds to a halt and the kids are bouncing off the walls with excitement and trying to make a snow man out of a dusting of snow.

Good excuse to make copious amounts of mulled wine to keep warm though,eh? ;)

I want a white Christmas soooooo much

I envy you too, Smoo! It's freezing here, way down South but nothing to show for it and my lot are praying for snow to build a snowman! My Grandfather was brought up in Hilton on the Eastern Seaboard, even though he was born in Sheffield, we are hoping to visit the Highlands next year, not until the Summer though!!
