Is anyone here having a wasp problem?

We seem to have a number of them, we can see them trying to get in our lounge window while we watch TV. This is not funny at all as my husband has a bad wasp phobia.

On monday night we were watching telly as usual and I felt a pain in my toe. I took my sock off but couldn't work out why it felt like someone was sticking a needle in my toe. About five minutes later what do I see but a humungous wasp drifting up towards the light in the centre of the room?! Of course first priority was to get hubby out of there and then decide what to do. As it had landed inside the paper shade I put a bowl underneath, bashed the little blighter out of there and covered it over with a newspaper. I tried tipping it out of the kitchen window but I couldn't get it out of the bowl without risking it stinging my hand or flying back into the flat. So I left it covered up overnight and it was almost dead in the morning.

Hubby had a terrible night's sleep, several nightmares ensued! Of course now he is paranoid that we have a wasp nest in the loft or something but we were up there at the weekend and didn't notice anything.

Is it because the weather is so mild for the time of year? In future with global warming are we going to get nasties like this all year round?

PS My toe itches like mad. Must have got a half hearted sting through my sock!!

We still have loads of them round here, and especially where I work, they insist on coming in, and they're really angry (and bloomin big jaspers too :( )

I hate them, we need a cold snap to kill them all off :badmood:

I've only seen one wasp this year - believe it or not!
I was in a garden centre café back in September, I saw it buzzing about - then a wee while later it crawled up the leg of my jeans and stung me.
Perfect.
*sigh*
