We are wanting to get our driveway paved but I'm a bit concerned about just getting some bloke out of the paper, is there such thing as a website where people can reccommend workmen or can anyone reccommend a driveway specialist in Manchester?
We want someone who isn't going to antagonise our NFH :(
Hi allypally :D
Have you tried taking a look around at driveways you like and knocking on doors, asking who did them, what their work was like, how reliable they were etc :D We got the people to do our driveway as we saw their work elsewhere and asked people they had worked for, what they were like.
You could also try your local Council too, ours has a list of "who to use" contractors they have checked out as good (some have it which you can access via their websites) and they have fairly tight checks before you make it onto this approved list.
Best of luck
Hi again Allypally
I think the other suggestions you've had about looking for good drives and asking who did them is great, but I would be wary of anyone on a council's approved list - often the only reason they get onto it is because they are cheap when the work is tendered (and the council don't care if they leave a mess most of the time!). General builders are often quite capable of doing this job too, it does not have to be a specialist driveway company - they only difference is that they can't do anything else! Might be worth comparing prices.
Lots of companies offer great discounts if you are happy for them to use photos of your completed drive in their advertising - I got all the blocks for free and only paid for the actual labour by doing this. It is worth phoning round any in your local Yellow Pages anad asking about this.
Cheers for now!

Thanks for your quick replies, I'll take the dog for a walk round the neighbourhood and go drive watching :)
