:( Hi folks

I've just got back from my local hospital. I've sprained the ligments in my knee and I'm feeling very sorry for myself :(

I've taken today off work to rest my leg, but I'm worried about tomorrow, does anyone know how long it will take before I can hobble around more? I'm in my induction year for teaching and I really don't want to take time off :( I feel guilty enough taking today :(

Sorry, just having a moan :crybaby:

Oh, poor you. I have no idea how long it takes, but the more you rest up the sooner it will heal.

Look on the bright side, you can talk to us ALL day!! lol

ouch! has the doctor given you anything for the pain? i was given steroids when i tore the ligaments in my back and felt better almost immediatly but i still needed to rest for a couple of weeks. don't push yourself RB, a bit of time off now is better than lots of time off later if you make things worse by doing to much

hi rb2002

i did the same thing in july and it was about two weeks before i could walk comforatably without the pain

have you been given pain killers?

i found that if i wore a knee support while i was walking it helped (although they are not attractive things i looked like nora batty  ) but dont keep one on for too long take it off while resting

hope you feel better soon

Hi RB,

Like banana I agree that you should not compromise your health while teaching. I did a year of teacher training at university and then gave up because it was not for me. It is a difficult enough job to do at the best of times, let alone when you are not feeling tip-top.

I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks all :)

I'm going to send hubby to boots to get a knee support  And Banana I'll give your concoction a go too.

They put a tubular bandage on at the hospital, but it keeps rolling down and is very uncomfortable because of that :( They also told me to take my ordinary painkillers.

I should be grateful the ligaments are just sprained and not torn though. Hopefully, I'll be hobbling about soon

:( Oh RB, that's horible... Do take it easy, the rest you get now will pay off in the future...

I tore the ligaments in my ankle a while ago and did not rest it at all or get it treated. I really paid for it because a few months down the line I was still in pain and my GP ended up referring me to a physio. So after weeks with a physio, it was finally sorted. It would never have come to that if I'd only taken a good rest and got the right treatment in the first place.

Are your painkillers helping? If not I'd get in touch with your GP if I were you and explain what has happened. They are normally very understanding and can prescibe an alternative.

I'm not sure about the tuibigrip rolling down either...doesn't sound right :( .

Hope you feel better soon :clover:
