There's a thunder storm on the Solent (south Hampshire coast) and it sounds as if it's coming inland. It's probably not as bad as last weeks, but it's worth considering if you need to make any preparations.

I feel like a bimbo TV weather girl !
Sky News says:
Outlook for tonight
Thundery rain will slowly clear away to the east and out into the North Sea. Further showery rain expected for Scotland and N.Ireland. Drier in the SW, misty too. Fresher, but still rather humid in the E&SE.
Outlook for tomorrow
Tomorrow will see showers, possibly thundery to the east at first but drier and brighter in the west. Feeling fresher with temperatures in the low 20's to the southeast.
Here's a map - imagine me a pointing with a stick at all the places and temperatures while smiling for the camera!!!

Just had a call from my mum in the Lancs/yorks border area and she has just had the most amazing electrical storm.
She was so enthrawled she didn't even notice a power cut....
Power back after 1 hour.... she said it was the worst storm in her 57 years !!!

We never got it either Annabel. It's bone dry outside this morning. Last night was incredibly hot though, we had to have the electric fan running almost all night!

Does anybody else experience physical problems during a storm?
Yes! I do! I always get a heavy head, and feel very weird, like something is pressing down on me.
I felt quite bad yesterday, thats why I am so surprised we didnt actually get any rain or a storm whatsoever.

Yes I too get that 'pressing down' feeling when a storm is due. It's not exactly uncomfortable just a little wierd.
I have heard about sticking forks in the ground before, although not to do with storms. I think people do it before a frost or something and when you go back out you can't take them out again without the handles snapping off? Wierd.
